October 1, 2017 will be a day that we will never forget. We see shootings in the news all the time in different cities, but when you see a mass shooting in your city, it makes you think how precious life really is. We never thought something like this would happen and the fact that it did, is horrific. I took yesterday as a day to grieve with our city and reflect on what life is. With thousands of people mourning the loss of their loved ones and the attack our city has gone through, it’s been a heartbreaking experience that we’re all going through. Each of us have come together to help one another and express openly how we’re all feeling.
It breaks my heart that one day when my daughter is old enough to understand there are bad people in this world, we’re going to have to tell her that this place we call home made U.S. history because some awful man took it upon himself to take the lives of good people who were out just living life! Yesterday really put my life in perspective on how important it is to be kind, to love with your whole heart, and to appreciate your life even when things aren’t the way you hoped. We get another day to tell the people we love, that we love them and another day to live our lives to the fullest. Take advantage of it because you never know what can happen or when.
I still can’t wrap my head around what happened or why, but I know there are ways we can help. It’s been incredible to see our city come together and others around the world helping those in desperate need of it. Ways you can help too are listed below.
1. Donate blood. This is by far the most important need for the victims. Find a location near you.
3. Share information from official resources.
